BOUNCING basketballs, laughter and smiles welcomed FIBA Oceania President to the South East Asian country separated from Australia to the south by the Timor Sea, and the Indonesian Province of East Nusa Tenggara to the west.
Shipley met with the federation to discuss future plans and see firsthand the powerful work they are doing with the Mum’s a Hero program in Dili and the outer villages.
“This was a great opportunity to sit down with the Federation and discuss, face-to-face, their challenges, opportunities and goals moving forward. I was very impressed by the ambition and drive of the federation and their vision for the sport in Timor,” said Shipley.
“I was astounded by how much this program means to the Timor community. After one of the sessions, I had a mother come up to me with tears in her eyes thanking me and asking for more of the Mum’s a Hero program. This just goes to show the impact that these coaches are having here in Timor. – Source: FIBA
