PNG U20 Women’s soccer team’s outstanding efforts at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup held in Port Moresby will be rewarded.
PNG Sports Foundation Executive Director Peter Tsiamalili Jr, early this week, confirmed that there are plans in place to reward the soccer girls under the sports initiative program.
Tsiamalili was at a press conference in Port Moresby together with Sports Minister Justin Tkachenko to announce the PNG Games from been held bi-annually to every three years.
Tkatchenko also used the opportunity to congratulate the PNG U20 soccer team for their game against Korea DPR where PNG scored a historic goal.
He said the one goal scored by Nicolette Ageva was enough to prove PNGs worth on the world.
“Scoring its first ever world cup goal creating history for our country is afamous achievement for this young girls that went up against the world’sbest,” she said.
“We must never forget these young girls against all odds, they played against the world’s best and North Korea is one of the world’s best so far in this competition winning every game in their pool and to get a goal against North Korea was a blessing for the girls and also for the team,” said a very proud Tkatchenko.
